Julia Uitz is a research scientist with interests in the space-time dynamics of phytoplankton communities and associated carbon fluxes at global and regional scales. To this end, she uses or develops approaches that combine optical and biogeochemical observations from BGC-Argo profiling floats, research vessels and ocean color satellites. She is the WP2 leader of the Argo-2030 project (PIA-3 EquipEx) that aims to demonstrate the potential of integrating ecological sensors onto BGC-Argo floats. She is currently a member of the Argo-France steering committe and of the scientific committee of the French Mercator/Coriolis Mission Group (GMMC). She is also associate editor for Biogeosciences. She coauthored >50 publications.
