Development of a radiometric float designed to extend the temporal and the spatial resolution of the in-situ validation of Ocean Color remote sensing products.
The ProVal profiling float has been developed in the framework of the ProVal project funded by the CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales). The purpose of this project is to use profiling floats to extend the temporal and the spatial resolution of the in-situ validation of Ocean Color remote sensing products. The ProVal float is based on the new PROVOR CTS5, developed by NKE in collaboration with the LOV. The ProVal float is specifically instrumented with two identical Ed-Lu combos (7?s) from SeaBird deported on the side of the float. This configuration will minimize the self-shading and allows data inter-comparison between both sensors for long terms deployments.See ProVal’s paper for more information : https://doi.org/10.3389/fmars.2018.00437

Sciences-Sur-Mer

As part of the Year of the Ocean, the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche is actively participating in two major events: the One Ocean Science Congress and l’UNOC’3.
Our unit’s staff will take part in scientific discussions and associated events, and will also contribute to the “Sciences-sur-Mer” Festival (June 7–13, Villefranche-sur-Mer), which aims to strengthen the link between science and society by offering opportunities for dialogue between stakeholders and inviting both the general public and school groups to take part.
