Complementary Information
My work is mainly focused on molecular ecology, population genomics, and phylogenetics of marine species. Over the past few years, I have worked on several model species and field-based studies across regions ranging from the Mediterranean Sea to the eastern Pacific Ocean, including benthic communities, fishes, and marine mammals. My research has included conservation genetics, the study of vertical and large-scale population connectivity, and species delimitation analyses. During my PhD, I investigate the origin and evolutionary mechanisms underlying marine endemism in the Cape Verde archipelago, with a particular focus on the relative roles of geographic isolation, long-distance dispersal, and local adaptation. The project adopts a comparative, multitaxonomic approach to characterize genetic divergence, population connectivity, and the evolutionary history of peripheral marine populations.
