Robert Schlegel is a data scientist on the OMTAB team where he contributes project management and data analysis for portions of the RiOMar and HYPERNETS projects. Previously at LOV he was the data scientist for the FACE-IT project, which focussed on adaptive co-management of social-ecological fjord systems in the Arctic in the face of rapid cryosphere and biodiversity changes. His primary area of research has been the development and operational implementation of novel methodologies that quantify the physical drivers of extreme events in order to better understand their present and future impacts on marine ecological systems. To this end he is an active member in the Ilico and CLIVAR marine heatwave (MHW) research focus groups, and has been an annual contributor to the WMO and BAMS state of the climate reports.

Sciences-Sur-Mer

As part of the Year of the Ocean, the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche is actively participating in two major events: the One Ocean Science Congress and l’UNOC’3.
Our unit’s staff will take part in scientific discussions and associated events, and will also contribute to the “Sciences-sur-Mer” Festival (June 7–13, Villefranche-sur-Mer), which aims to strengthen the link between science and society by offering opportunities for dialogue between stakeholders and inviting both the general public and school groups to take part.
