The permanent observation of the Central American Thermal Dome, via a network of BGC-Argo profiling floats maintained by the international Argo program, will be augmented by a listening capability, making it possible to assess nuisance levels for marine mammals and develop protection and regulation mechanisms for use by stakeholders. This prototype could be transposed to other High Seas territories and applied to other socio-economic players for environmental monitoring and reduction of impacts associated with mining or maritime traffic.
