The DYFAMED mooring, located in the Ligurian Sea (43°25’N 07°53’E), is devoted to the observation of the water mass propertie evolution and of the carbon export changes since 1988. DYFAMED contribute to the European research infrastructure EMSO.
The DYFAMED offshore mooring is located in the Ligurian central area (coordinates: 43°25’N 07°52’E; depth: 2300m). Sediment traps, T/S, oxygen and current velocity sensors equip this standalone deep sea mooring dedicated to physical forcing and carbon fluxes. The DYFAMED mooring is devote to better understand the physical and biogeochemical forcing on marine ecosystem (mixed layer depth, remineralization, atmospheric inputs, convection and matters cycles).DYFAMED was deployed first in 1988. It’s now managed by the IMEV and contribute to the European research infrastructure consortium EMSO.Objectives of DYFAMED are:- to study dynamics of intermediate and deep water masses,- to estimate the atmospherical deposites impact on matters flux,- to quantify the carbon trapping.
