I am a “Make Our Planet Great Again” (MOPGA) postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefrance (LOV), France. My MOPGA postdoc project entitled “Mechanisms of resilience to ocean acidification: Structural features of calcifying algae related to enhanced biodiversity in naturally acidified environments (CALSTRUCT)” focuses on the effects of marine heatwaves and ocean acidification on coralline algal physiology and biodiversity along natural marine volcanic CO2 vent sites. Project CALSTRUCT complements Dr. Nuria Teixido’s 4Oceans-MOPGA project, and seeks to examine skeletal structure and density of coral and crustose coralline algal skeletons using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and other quantitative microscopic visualization techniques. Previously, I was a VISTA postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bergen and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research in Bergen, Norway, sponsored by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters VISTA department.
